1980 BMW 528i – E12

The BMW 528i from the E12 series, built in the last year of production in 1980, represents the first generation of the 5 Series and marks a milestone in the history of sporty, elegant business sedans. This model impresses with its completely original condition, which has become an absolute rarity today. Under the hood is the refined 2.8-liter inline six-cylinder (M30B28) with Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection, which delivers 184 hp and is valued for its smooth running, pulling power, and reliability. In combination with the manual transmission, the 528i offers a harmonious blend of comfort, sophistication, and driving pleasure—typical of BMW. The body features the classic design of the late 1970s: clean lines, striking twin headlights, the “shark nose” front, and an elegant silhouette. The body, interior, rims, and all attachments of this vehicle are in their original delivery condition—unmodified, unrestored, and completely in their original paint. The interior impresses with its beautifully preserved leather upholstery, clearly structured cockpit, wood trim, and original steering wheel—all in excellent condition.

The car was delivered in August 1980 by the official BMW dealership “Garage Fässler” in Appenzell and remained in nearby St. Gallen until 2022. The continuously maintained service booklet proves that all maintenance was carried out exclusively at Garage Fässler.
